What I am going to share with you will make many people cry “ but we only live once” or “you shouldn’t deny yourself” and “everything in moderation”.

The problem with most unhealthy food is that they do taste GOOD. However, a poor diet contributes to low energy, stress and health problems. They have been proven to cause:

  • Stroke
  • Diabetes
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Some Cancer
  • Heart disease

If you eat better, you will feel better. Eliminating these foods from your diet will result in more energy, slimming and better overall health.

Here are top 10 foods to avoid

1) Processed Meat

Hot dog, sausage, ham and bacon from your diet are full of chemical additives, salt and preservatives. Go for fresh lean meat such as fish, chicken and turkey.

2) Microwavable food

They are quick and easy instant meals, but they contain zero nutrients. Most of the nutrients are destroyed during the processing and microwave.

3) Can or Packaged Food

Most cans or plastics food packaging contain bisphenol-A (BPA) which is an estrogen mimicking chemical proven to be found in the food. BPA can cause the problem with reproductive system, brain development and increase the risk of prostate and breast cancer.

Can and packaged food are normally low in nutrients and high is salt, trans fat, artificial flavor and preservatives.

4) Vegetable Oil

Most common vegetable cooking oil such as soya bean oil, safflower oil, sunflower seed oil, corn oil, canola oil contain high portion of omega 6. Omega 6 is the starting point for the production of inflammatory agent.

Omega 6 should be combined with omega 3 in the ratio less than 4:1 respectively. Unfortunately, most common diet nowadays has too high proportion of omega 6 versus omega 3 and they can be up to 10:1 or even 30:1.

5) Fried Food

High temperature cooking kills most nutrients. Fried food normally increases the ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 to an undesirable level. Avoid barbecue and deep-fried. Go for more steaming, boiling.

6) Trans Fat

Trans fat raises bad cholesterol and lowers good cholesterol in the blood and thus, increases the risk of heart disease.

Avoid food with labels “partially hydrogenated” or “shortening”. Trans fat is found in cakes, cookies, potato chips, pop corn, salad dressings, candy and breakfast cereals.

7) Ice cream, milk shakes and sweet deserts

They are high in sugar, fat and calories. Also, they are mostly accompanied by a meal that is already with high calories. Good alternatives are fresh fruit or it’s juices and smoothies

8) Refined Sugar

Refined sugar is simple carbohydrates, which cause spikes in blood sugar and insulin that will lead to diabetes, obesity and sugar addiction.

An alternative would be fresh fruits and whole grains, which, provides natural vitamins, minerals and fiber.

9) Artificial Sweetener

Avoid food that contains “ sugar free” labels as they would invariably contain artificial sweeteners. Too much artificial sweeteners can cause nausea and headache.

It trick the body into thinking that you are eating sweet and cause an insulin response which lowers blood sugar level below the normal range. As a result, it makes you feel even hungrier.

10) Packaged Drinks

Soda beverages, packaged fruit juices, teas and coffees are 70% excess in empty calories which cause weight gain. They are loaded with sugar, artificial sweetener, colorings and preservatives.

Water is the best thirst quencher but if you must have other drinks, go for fresh fruit juices, herbal or green tea.
